Jennifer Landers - Velvet Rider
I am the founder and writer of the popular equestrian fashion and lifestyle blog Velvet Rider. I have been riding since I was seven years old, starting out riding Western but now as an adult riding dressage. I have always loved horses and enjoyed riding but making the switch to dressage has really compounded those feelings. It is no secret that dressage is hard, and I have had many ups and downs along my journey but the joy and sense of accomplishment it can bring is equal to no other. Last year, I achieved my USDF Bronze Medal, and it was a tangible testament to all of the hard work and many hours I have put in. My horse is a Hanoverian gelding and a dressage schoolmaster in every way. He has taught me more and helped me achieve dreams I didn’t know I was capable of. I am deeply grateful for him. His barn name is Petey but when he is being a superstar he is known as Sir Peter. Everyone knows what kind of day we’re having by what I call him lol! As riders, we all have our favorite items so here are my top five favorites…
Saddle – I never realized what a difference a saddle could make until I bought the Custom Saddlery Icon Star dressage saddle. It’s amazing. (shown)
Breeches – I’m obsessed with the Romfh Isabella Grip full seat breeches. The fit and grip make them a must-have.
Boots – My all time favorite boots are the Ariat Volant boots. They are so comfortable and have so much grip to the saddle. I can’t say enough good things about these boots!
Spur Straps – I can’t ride without my Bridle Bling spur straps. I love the added touch of bling!
Riding Shirts – Asmar Equestrian are my favorite clothing brand to ride in. Their shirts and jackets fit so well, are flattering, so comfortable, and have the perfect amount of stretch to them. Honorable Mention: SmartPak Sport Boots for schooling for Petey. Can’t ride without them.
